How to set it up, step by step

You can have a lead-capturing flipbook live in a few minutes. The whole flow is: build a form, upload your PDF, then connect the two. Here is exactly how.

Create your lead-capture form

In the sidebar, open FormGuard and click Create New Form. FormGuard forms are spam-resistant out of the box, so you collect real contacts instead of bot junk - no CAPTCHAs required.

  • Set Form type to Lead Form - this stores every submission in your Leads (a Contact Form just emails you instead).
  • Give it a Form Name and Form URL so you can recognise it later.
  • Keep the fields short - Name and Email are there by default. Fewer fields means higher conversion. Toggle Required per field as needed.
  • Edit the description (for example "Fill in the form below to keep reading") and the button text, then set a Thank you message.
  • Click Save.

Create your flipbook

In the sidebar, open Flipbooks, click Add new Flipbook and then Upload PDF File(s). Pick the catalog, report, brochure or guide you want to turn into a lead magnet.

  • Upload one or more PDFs - they convert automatically in about a minute.
  • When the status changes from Converting to done, your interactive flipbook is ready to configure.

Add the lead form to your flipbook

On the flipbook card, click the Settings (cog) icon and scroll to Collect Leads Within Flipbook. This is where the flipbook and your form come together.

  • Tick Enable Lead Overlay to show the form as an overlay on top of the flipbook.
  • Lead Overlay Form: choose the FormGuard form you made in step 1.
  • Lead Overlay Page: pick which page the form appears on. Tip: let readers enjoy the first page or two so they are hooked before you ask for details.
  • Click Save & Update.

Mandatory or optional?

The Mandatory (hide Skip) checkbox decides how hard the gate is:

  • Leave it unchecked (optional): readers get a Skip button and can keep reading without signing up. You get more reads and lower-friction leads - great for top-of-funnel content.
  • Tick it (mandatory): the Skip button disappears and readers must submit the form to continue. This maximises lead capture - ideal for your most valuable, gated content.

Watch the leads come in

That is it - your flipbook now captures leads. Every submission lands under Leads in the sidebar, tagged with the source Flipbook so you know where it came from. Export them to CSV whenever you want to follow up in your own email platform or inbox.
